A Whole-Person Approach

Look at More Than One Symptom or Lab Result

Chronic health concerns rarely have a single cause. High cholesterol, rising blood sugar, high blood pressure, weight changes, fatigue, digestive symptoms, and hormone or thyroid concerns can all be influenced by several interconnected factors.

Functional medicine gives us a framework for examining your medical history, genetics, environment, lifestyle, and symptoms together.

Lifestyle medicine helps us address the everyday factors that can influence chronic disease, including nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, social connection, and risky habits.

I bring these approaches together with evidence-based medical care to treat the root causes of conditions.

Who I Help

Functional Medicine Care for Virginia Patients

I work with adults throughout Virginia who want to prevent or improve chronic disease, better understand abnormal lab results, or address symptoms that have not been fully explained.

You may benefit from this approach if you’re dealing with:

High cholesterol, elevated triglycerides, or other cardiovascular risk factors

Prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, or metabolic syndrome

High blood pressure

Overweight, obesity, or unexplained weight changes

Fatty liver disease or chronic kidney disease

Fatigue, low energy, or brain fog

Thyroid conditions or hormone-related concerns

A family history of heart disease, diabetes, dementia, or other chronic conditions

These concerns can overlap. I’ll help you understand how they may be connected and identify the areas that deserve the most attention first.

Functional & Lifestyle Medicine for Virginians

Although my practice is based in Richmond, all appointments are conducted virtually. You can work with me from anywhere in Virginia as long as you are located in the state at the time of your appointment. You’ll meet directly with me through a secure telehealth platform, and any recommended lab testing or imaging can be completed near you.

Testing and Biomarkers

Get a More Complete View of Your Health

Standard lab work provides useful information, but it may not show every early change or fully explain your individual risk. I recommend additional testing selectively, based on your history, symptoms, existing results, and goals.

Testing may include:

  • Advanced cardiovascular markers

  • Blood sugar and insulin markers such as fasting insulin & hemoglobin A1c

  • Kidney markers such as cystatin C and the urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio

  • Thyroid hormones and thyroid antibodies when appropriate

  • Imaging such as a coronary artery calcium scan when clinically indicated

  • Advanced functional health testing when the results could meaningfully guide your care
